Все разнообразие ситуаций для русского слова может быть сведено к четырем типам:1. пожалуйста — просьба2. пожалуйста — согласие3. пожалуйста — ответ на извинение или благодарность 4. пожалуйста — при демонстрации показа.1. please — пожалуйста, прошу (Вас), простите, разрешите (английское наречие please многозначно и употребляется): a) для выражения просьбы: I'd like another cup of coffee, please. — Можно мне еше чашечку кофе./ Дайте, пожалуйста, еще кофе. Don't be late, please. — Прошу не опаздывать./Пожалуйста, не опаздывайте. Please can we go now? — Простите, мы пойдем?/Разрешите, мы пойдем?/Можно нам идти? May I take your umbrella? — Please, do! — Можно взять ваш зонтик? — Ну, конечно. c) в знак благодарности за сделанное предложение, которое вы принимаете: — Can I offer you a glass of wine. — Yes, please. — Выпьете вина? — Да. Пожалуйста.2. certainly — пожалуйста, конечно, что за вопрос (характерно и основном для устной речи, выражает готовность выполнить просьбу; в отрицательной форме выражает решительное несогласие): Can I bring a friend of mine to the party? — Certainly. — Можно мне прийти n гости с другом? — Пожалуйста!/Коиечно!/Что за вопрос! Can I take your car, father? — Certainly not. — Можно взять твою машину, nana? — Конечно (же) нет, нельзя.3. by all means — пожалуйста, без сомнения, конечно же (отличается от certainly большей эмфатичностью; в отрицательной форме обозначает категорический отказ): Can I take your umbrella? — By all means. — Можно взять ваш зонтик? — Ну, конечно же!/Пожалуйста, пожалуйста. Can I take your car, father? — By no means. — Можно взять твою машину, nana? — Ни в коем случае.4. with pleasure — пожалуйста, с удовольствием: — Can you help me? — With pleasure. — Вы мне не поможете? — Пожалуйста./С удовольствием.5. don't mention it — пожалуйста, не стоит благодарности: Thank you for your help. — Don't mention it. — Спасибо за помощь. — Пожалуйста./Не стоит благодарности.
